My name is Brianna Jensen, I'm a Childbirth International (CBI) Birth Doula. I started my schooling in February of 2009, and I've loved every moment of it! But my passion for Birth came long before starting my training. For as long as I can remember I have loved pregnancy and everything involving it! My first pregnancy was an amazing experience, the ending however is what pushed me into being a Birth Doula. I had our first daughter in July of 2007. After a pretty disappointing birth I went out in search of something more. I read every book on pregnancy, labor and delivery that I could get my hands on! There was just so much to learn, and the options were limitless!!
I did a lot of research before choosing CBI to do my doula studies through. They had everything I was looking for and more! So I started school and jumped right into it! The first client I supported was fantastic! E. didn't even mind that I was just starting out! She was on her third baby, and she really wanted to have an un-medicated birmonth. After having AROM done and 4hrs of no progress PIT was administered (1 hour) Then really intense labor for the next several hours, and she took it like a champ! Four hours later she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy (see picture too the right) with no epidural!! E. was so amazing! Her son had high apgar scores, and took to breastfeeding right away! She gave him the wonderful gift of life, and I was honored to be present at his birth. I am truly grateful to E. and her family for helping me out in starting my Doula Career!
A bit about me:
I am married to the most supportive and loving husband, he has given me the confidence and the strength to get through anything! We were married in Utah in 2006 and lived there till we moved to Washington just before he deployed to Iraq in 2007, my husband serves in the United States Marine Corps. Our daughter was born during the 4th of July (72hour) break(before deploying) and we were blessed that he was able to be with me during our daughters delivery. We recently just finished with our second deployment. My husband just returned home from Afghanistan.. And we are so happy that he is finally home! Our daughter is now 4.
As of March 2011 we are now a family of 4! I have to share my amazing home water birth story, our son was born after 7hours of active labor, in our bedroom, in a beautiful setting of candle light and soft strings of lights, in pool of warm water.. I have never felt so empowered! It's ignited my flame, and I'm more on fire than ever. If you'd like to read more about my story and see the awesome pictures taken go to:
My hobbies include babies, babies and more babies!! I'm just kidding, I enjoy baking, sewing, art, gardening, herbs, natural parenting, reading, playing with my kids, dates with my husband, making babies giggle, empowering women, furthering my knowledge and excelling at anything I put my mind to!
I love my family, I love my career and I love my life. It's been a crazy adventure, I've met the most amazing people and have had awe inspiring experiences. I would be honored to assist you in your path of bringing new life into this world.
As of November 2011, I put in my paperwork and recieved my acceptance letter for Midwifery school!! I retired as a Birth Doula in October of '11. *For more info on that check out the News section of this site.
I always have felt called to birth, it is infused into my very being, and feel very blessed to continue this path and heed the calling..
